Assessment on nutrient levels in the aerial biomass of irrigated guava in São Francisco Valley, Brazil Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Maia,Joselanne Luiza Trajano; Bassoi,Luis Henrique; Silva,Davi José; Lima,Maria Auxiliadora Coelho de; Assis,Joston Simão de; Morais,Patricia Lígia Dantas de.
In perennial crops, fertilizers are applied to restore the amount of nutrient removed from the plant by harvesting. Nevertheless, the immobilized nutrient inside the whole plant should be considered. Based on it, the nutrient concentrations in the guava leaf and fruit and the nutrient contents removed by fruits and post-harvest pruning were evaluated in an irrigated orchard, in Petrolina, State of Pernambuco, Brazil. The greatest contents removed by fruits were N and K among the macronutrients, while Fe, Zn and Mn presented higher levels among the micronutrients. More than 60% of the total content of N, P, K, Mg, Fe, and B removed by pruning were immobilized in the leaf and non-marketable fruit.

Effect of humic substances and weather conditions on leaf biochemical changes of fertigated guava tree, during orchard establishment Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Dantas,Bárbara França; Pereira,Maiane Santos; Ribeiro,Luciana de Sá; Maia,Joselanne Luiza Trajano; Bassoi,Luis Henrique.
In São Francisco Valley, Northeast Brazil, humic substances have been used by growers in fertigated fruit crops, due to its improvements on soil conditions and in plant nutrient uptake, metabolism and growth, reported from different growing places and crops. Nevertheless, little information about plant response to humic substance usage for local soil, weather and cropping system conditions is known. Hence, the metabolic response of guava tree during the orchard establishment to fertigation with humic substances and its correlation to the weather conditions were evaluated in Petrolina, State of Pernambuco. The treatments were manure application in soil combined with mineral fertilizers and humic substances applied through water of irrigation. The results...

Grapevine root distribution in drip and microsprinkler irrigation Scientia Agricola
Bassoi,Luis Henrique; Hopmans,Jan W.; Jorge,Lúcio André de Castro; Alencar,Cristina Miranda de; Silva,José Antonio Moura e.
Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) yield and its quality are dependent of the status of the root system. Root distribution information is also valuable for soil and water management. An analysis of methods to evaluate the root distribution of grapevines for both, drip and microsprinkler irrigation in a Typic Acrustox is presented for the table grape cv. Italia grafted on the rootstock IAC-313, in northeastern Brazil. Measured root parameters using the monolith method were root dry weight (Dw) and root length density (Lv), while root area (Ap) was estimated using the soil profile method in combination with digital image analysis. For both irrigation systems, roots were present to the 1 m soil depth and extended laterally to 1 m distance from the trunk, but...

Metabolic responses of guava trees irrigated withdifferent N and K levels in São Francisco Valley Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Dantas,Bárbara França; Pereira,Maiane Santos; Ribeiro,Luciana de Sá; Maia,Joselanne Luiza Trajano; Silva,Davi José; Duenhas,Luiza Helena; Lima,Maria Auxiliadora Coelho de; Bassoi,Luis Henrique.
The guava (Psidium guajava L.) cv. Paluma has been cultivated in São Francisco Valley, Northeastern of Brazil, for in natura consumption and processing purposes. In spite of its importance, there are few scientific knowledge regarding guava physiology, nutrition, irrigation and fertigation. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of weather conditions and different concentrations of N and K applied by fertigation in foliar contents of reducing sugars, total soluble sugars, starch, sucrose, amino acids, and proteins. The field experiment was carried out at Bebedouro Experimental Field and the biochemical evaluations at the Laboratory of Seed and Plant Physiology, both located at Embrapa Semi-Árido, Petrolina-PE. The doses of 200 g N and 100 g...

Nitrate and potassium concentration in fertigated soil cultivated with wine vines Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Silva,Alexsandro Oliveira da; Silva,Davi José; Bassoi,Luis Henrique.
ABSTRACT In the semiarid region of Brazil the use of irrigation systems for applying fertilizers in horticulture is the primary means for incorporating nutrients in the soil. However, this technique still requires its use in wine vines to be assessed. In view of this, this study aimed to assess nitrate and potassium concentrations in soil fertigated with nitrogen and potassium fertilizers in 3 wine grape growing cycles. A field experiment was conducted with 'Syrah' wine grapes, in Petrolina, Pernambuco, Brazil; it assessed five nitrogen doses (0, 15, 30, 60 and 120 kg ha-1) and five K2O doses (0, 15, 30, 60 and 120 kg ha-1) applied by drip irrigation system with two emitters per plant, with a flow rate of 4 L h-1. The experimental design used was the...

Nitrate and potassium movement in a sandy loam soil cultivated with fertigated grapevine (Vitis vinifera /L.) in the Brazilian semiarid Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Silva,Alexsandro Oliveira da; Bassoi,Luis Henrique; Silva,Davi José.
Abstract Fertigation can increase the efficiency of fertilizer application and facilitate the nutritional management of a crop. Thus, nitrate and potassium movements in a sandy loam soil were evaluated as function of fertilizer doses during three growing seasons of the grapevine cv. Syrah grafted on Paulsen 1103 rootstock (June to October 2013, February to June 2014, and August to November 2014) in Petrolina, state of Pernambuco, Brazil. Five doses of N (0, 15, 30, 60 and 120 kg ha-1) and five doses of K2O (0, 15, 30, 60 and 120 kg ha-1) were combined in a fractional 52 factorial design, totaling 13 combinations, in a randomized blocks experiment with four replications. The concentrations of nitrate and potassium in the soil solution were determined....

Soil spatial variability and the estimation of the irrigation water depth Scientia Agricola
Reichardt,Klaus; Silva,José Carlos de Araújo; Bassoi,Luis Henrique; Timm,Luís Carlos; Oliveira,Julio Cesar Martins de; Bacchi,Osny Oliveira Santos; Pilotto,João Eduardo.
The effects of soil water spatial variability previous to irrigation and of the field capacity on the estimation of irrigation water depth are evaluated. The experiment consisted of a common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) crop established on a Kandiudalfic Eutrudox of Piracicaba, SP, Brazil, irrigated by central pivot, in which soil water contents were evaluated with a depth neutron gauge, in a grid of 20x4 points with lag of 0.5 m. In a given situation, the 80 calculated irrigation water depths presented a coefficient of variation of 29.3%, with an average water value of 18 mm, maximum of 41mm and minimum of 9 mm. It is concluded that the only practical way of irrigation is the use of an average water depth, due to the inherent variability of the soil, and...
